It's their goods if they pait for it. If I am employed as a programmer and write some code in my working hours as a part of a project or whatever then the code belongs to my employer, not me. Or not? Anyway if I as a boss had a subordinate that says something like this I'd get rid of him immediately. So that there is not that much code we have to rewrite when he leaves. (Though on the other hand some people make write-only code even if they do not want to. And it's not always possible to find better ones.)
