The FAQs at *.perl.com or *.perldoc.com are helpful, but seemingly limited. Of the questions that regularly appear on this list (aka "frequently asked questions")...how many of them can be answered by something at: http://www.perl.com/pub/q/FAQs ?
The FAQs at www.perl.com are not for "beginner" perl people (IMO). How many beginners have asked: Can I get a BNF/yacc/RE for the Perl language? How can I tell if a variable is tainted? How can I output Roman numerals? Additionally, I think the origanization of those FAQs is next to useless. How is a beginner supposed to know that a question like "How do I remove HTML from a string?" is under the "networking" section (doesn't CGI or HTML make more sense?)...and a question on "How do I clear the screen?" is under "System Interaction"? Yes, I know there is a search function on the web page...but when I search for something simple like "open file", "read file", or even "roman numbers/numerals (see above)" turns up no referenes. Hmmm...just venting... Russell J Foster Subject, Wills, & Company e.
