I have an old Votrax "Type ‘N Talk" text-to-speech synthesizer, circa 1982. It connects to a serial port and will accept text strings changing them to speech. I want to experiment with the unit by connecting it to a serial port on my Linux server and send text strings to it via a web page fronting for a Perl-CGI program.
