I disagree... the changes from Perl 4 to Perl 5.500?? were so much that I did have to re-write almost all my works, (the small ones were spared). The reason why I had to re-write it was that there were some subtle syntax changes, but mainly the functionality added was better the crap that I wrote to emulate it. 8^)
