merely being obsequious is not going to get this thread
back on track - and David Grey did raise a reasonable point -
with the absolutely delicious irony - that having to source
a network document to make clear what is common parlance in
the civilized world is a part of what we are trying to get
across to the beginning perlers.....

Given that we are also seeing more persons, for whom english
is not their first language - and the americans as well - there
needs to be a balance between:

        "show the code"

and

        "explain the code in english" - not american.

I think we have heard from a few of the professional writers
about books - and we may wish to take a bit of a queue from
Grey's concern about 'using common parlance' - as it is read
in the vulgae, rather than merely the lingua franca of perlese.
