Correct me if I am wrong (I have no doubt you will). 

I am never that sure of the relative merits of sending bounces as most
if not all bounce address's are hoax anyway. 

To reply in any way means that it arrived somewhere and caused a
reaction, via email. For some kids this is all they are after. If the
reaction was good or bad is normally of no consequence to the
originator unless detrimental, which a bounce is not unless you can be
sure of it return address.

I would normally just /dev/null the mail in question as I do not have
the talent or time to trace its originator via open relays etc.

For windows (I use windows too) users procmail is a mail filtering
system that can weed your mail and do whatever you want with it
depending on the rules that you have written. It can also score email
depending on content, sender etc and filter on score. Its a great tool
on *nix, not sure if it has an equivalent in Windows.
