I have literally just finished installing it on a windows box.

You need the following modules 

DBI
DBD::Oracle

I am not sure what the installation procedure is on a Solaris box but I
imagine you compile these  then hunt on google for connection script
examples. I have got a few bad examples for windows but there are plenty on
the net.
