I think the OP have installed perl, try to type this in the command prompt:
perl xxxx.pl, you got this error --- > Can't open perl script "xxxx.pl": No
such file or directory

> no such file or directory message, but I am looking right at the
example.pl
> file.

Try these :
1. type in the full path, instead of just the file name
2. modify the opener for .pl files align to perl.exe , so you
can try your script by a double click.
