Yes, hopefully. SMTP as we know it is as good as dead, due to this velnerability. Unfortunately, there is so much invested in it that it will take sometime to settle on, retool to, and force changeover towhatever password-authenticated-at=entry=point protocol will replace it. The growing unworkability of the present system may spur such a change, though, just as the specter of system collapse spurred the Y2K fixes throughout the computing world.
