Ramakrishna, 1) To check packages installed on your machine you have to "query" and not "search". 2) If you want to "search" packages through the proxy server, you need to define the following environment variables: HTTP_PROXY HTTP_PROXY_USER HTTP_PROXY_PASS. On my windows NT machine it is under Control Panel > System > Environment tab.
