Use perl to do it:
open my $in, '<', 'file1' or die "Cannot open file1: $!";
open my $out, '>', 'file2' or die "Cannot open file2: $!";
while ( <$in> ) {
next if /STUFF:STUFF/;
print $out;
}
close $out;
close $in;
