Actually it seems quite plausible.  I can see why someone would want
to do that.  Maybe they are also bonkers/lazy, but they don't have
to be :-)

I haven't used these modules, but they look like they'll do the
job for you:

http://search.cpan.org/~mfrankl/HTML-HTMLDoc-0.07/lib/HTML/HTMLDoc.pm
http://search.cpan.org/~mfrankl/HTML-HTMLDoc-0.07/lib/HTML/HTMLDoc/PDF.pm

Just fetch the HTML using LWP::Simple or similar and then those modules
should do the rest.
