Thanks. I'm not sure how we are getting derailed here... The question posted is asking if there is a way to get a better idea what is wrong with this script from perl itself. Its not about what is the best style of coding. I appreciate any comments since I'm a horrible coder but still, it would be nice if some of your comments were directed at the posted question. I've posted several other things to indicate the problem... IE that two well know editors that use syntax highlight are missing the error perl itself indicates. A missing syntax item from a pair. Has anyone here ever run into that?
