Hello,
I asked this question, and other than one response (thanks Owen!),
things have been pretty silent on this issue.
As I am a recent subscriber, maybe this is not the place to post this
type of a request.
Is there a better place that someone might aim me to resolve this issue?
Thanks for any replies,
You could try comp.lang.misc.perl
will do.
Does the problem occur with attempting to install just one particular
module or all modules?
As my collection of modules that I require grows, it starts with just the big
ones, then I can't do the small ones, then at some point, I can't even do a
'reload index' with out the out of memory error.
What does 'top' say before you start cpan, what does it say after starting
cpan?
Here is a 'CPAN shell started' before, and also the output during the 'reload
index' execution, just a second or two before I get the out of memory error
PID USERNAME SIZE RSS STATE PRI NICE TIME CPU PROCESS/NLWP
10503 root 11M 10M sleep 59 0 0:00:01 1.1% perl/1
PID USERNAME SIZE RSS STATE PRI NICE TIME CPU PROCESS/NLWP
10503 root 39M 38M run 0 0 0:00:04 13% perl/1
Anything from Google?
Yes, I did an extensive search on Yahoo, Google and the CPAN archives. I ran
across several hits where others had experienced the same problem. If any of
those people were able to resolve it, they did not post their results on line,
hence this post to a perl list.
Owen
Thanks again,
Jerry
