How to troubleshoot a Bus Error??

Hi all,
 
I have installed a perl module that seems to have a problem with my Mac
OS X 10.4 architecture. I say that because it runs just fine on my
FreeBSD/intel box, so I think it's a Mac/Power PC thing. I'd really like
to get this package working on my Mac and submit a fix for it. Any ideas
where to start? I don't have any experience with bus errors. If it
matters, the package is called Embperl and here is cut/paste of the
error:
