I will test the tell function out. I don't think I got access to the server log files.

You may be able to get this information from your web server log files? If you're using Apache then you can get the bytes sent from either the common or combined log formats. http://httpd.apache.org/docs/1.3/logs.html#common "The last entry indicates the size of the object returned to the client, not including the response headers."
