That's frustrating. But which is it, no results or returned emails? Maybe something is getting caught in a spam trap, or maybe you're not using the same email address that you thought you were using. Could you have originally joined from your "old" address, which still forwards mail to your "new" address, for example? It's the old one you need. If you still can't find (or remember) the address, use your email program to view the full header section on a message from the list; somewhere in the header lines you should be able to find what address the list is using to reach you. (In Gmail, you can choose "show original" to see the headers on a message.) Once you know the address that the list uses to reach you (let's say it's [EMAIL PROTECTED]), you send mail to this address: beginners-cgi-unsub scribe -fred =example.com @perl.org ... which is to say, to the email address you get by putting those pieces together, after you fix them up for the real address.
