if you're trying to set just a environment variable for the perl script then you can do (in your shell):
$ export CCASE_NO_FILE_HEADER=yes $ perl /home/m.belgaonkar/merge_latest.pl if you want to set the variable for another task (in your perl code): #!/usr/bin/perl use strict; ..your perl code... qx(CCASE_NO_FILE_HEADER=yes perl /home/m.belgaonkar/merge_latest.pl); ..more perl code...
