The FAQ is at http://learn.perl.org/faq/beginners.html As you can see, it hasn't been updated in a while. I think Casey is a little busier now than when he started the list. At a minimum, I think he now has three more children. > To be fair it's mainly about abuse, but then they have to let Randal have his > say too so then anything goes. > > I would very much like more order to this list. Casey may well welcome an offer to take over the maintenance of the list from a small group of willing and competent regulars. > Oh, and Raymond: ask all the regular posters whom you respect what they think > about posting style. They flagged way before I did :D I notice that the FAQ says nothing about quoting style and I'm not sure it was that much of a problem back then, though perhaps that's just the rose tinted glasses functioning correctly. But traditionally perl lists, and especially those hosted at perl.org, have eschewed top posting for all the reasons already noted. Or, more accurately, I suppose, back then no one even considered top posting. And in general, I think the list has stood up pretty well, in large measure due to the efforts of a rather small group of very dedicated regulars. Occasionally things are not quite a civil as they might be, but that's not (yet) a particularly large bud to be nipped. -- Paul Johnson - [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.pjcj.net -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://learn.perl.org/
