It depends. Warewulf allows hybrid (RAM disk plus NFS) images that can be
pretty small (~ 200 MB). I also have some rather hefty Hadoop images
(Hortonworks HDP 2.2) that are pretty large (~ 3GB).

I mount the applications in /opt under NFS (described previously)
