Well, OpenHPC being an Intel-lead initiative, what did you expect? :) All the Intel tools are in there, not jut the compiler: Advisor, Inspector, Intel MPI, ITAC, VTune, and so on. Not saying it's a bad thing, but it's true that currently, it looks biased towards one vendor. They cover this in their FAQ, though. From http://openhpc.community/support/faqwiki/: """ 11. I see that OpenHPC includes components from Intel® Parallel Studio (e.g. compilers, MPI, etc). Can I use these for free? Portions of the runtimes provided by the compilers and MPI components are freely useable. In order to compile new binaries using these tools (or access other analysis tools like Intel® Trace Analyzer and Collecter, Intel® Inspector, etc) you will need to provide your own valid license and OpenHPC adopts a bring-your-own license model. Note that licenses for these development tools are freely available to academic researchers and open-source contributors. For more information on this topic, please see: https://software.intel.com/en-us/qualify-for-free-software 12. Can other proprietary packages be enabled by OpenHPC? It is anticipated that over time, more proprietary packages will be integrated within OpenHPC if they support a bring-your-own-license model.
