Two decades ago when I was building kernels, I thought it would be wise to build a kernel using the same libraries as would be used in the operating system. Containers allow the same machine to support a range of libraries and binaries, but I wonder about the kernel. Is it rare for a container to not work because the kernel is not compatible?
