A "good" stud contract is in the eyes of the beholder <g>. I developed mine by sitting down and thinking about what was important to me, what I wanted the contract to accomplish, and the breeders I'd be working with. Then I asked several experienced stud owners if they'd share their contract with me ...so I could pick up any considerations I'd overlooked. Next, I asked several experienced breeders for their perspective...what they liked to see in a contract- what they didn't like- what they considered fair and reasonable. I used all of those inputs to write out a draft contract, which I sent to a breeder friend (who's very experienced AND knows my priorities inside and out) for comment. I incorporated her feedback and ended up with a contract that reflects my priotities but is flexible enough to tweak to meet the specifics of individual breedings and breeders. ~Sherri Venditti
