I did right thing and put Amy to sleep this afternoon. There was just no
muscle mass left in her back legs. Once she went down yesterday, she never
got up even after several different treatments from my vet. I was with her
and she was alert. She ate several dog treats and drank water while we
visited like nothing was wrong but she never moved her back legs or tried to
get up. Clover and Hazel came in the room and were very happy to see Amy
and they stayed during the procedure. In true Amy fashion, after I closed
her eyes and laid her head on the mat for the vet to check her heart, I
noticed she left this world with her front feet crossed. The girls give her
a sniff and we left. The vet is only going to do a visual necropsy. I gave
her blood the the Fred Hutchinson study so I believe she was cancer free.
Her old body just wore out.
