Hi All- I received the message below. Can't really think of a place where it might be as well-received as by the folks here on the berner-l.
Thanks to all. Hugh My husband and I have a 5.5 month old BMD who is wonderful! We're having a great time with him and have shown photographs of him to my mother-in-law. Unfortunately, my mother-in-law has had a rough summer (staph infection, old age, failing memory, and a number of other physical ailments), is in a nursing home and (we believe) doesn't have much time left. When she is alert and lucid, she asks about Boomer (our pup). My husband shows her photographs and describes him to her and she loves it. She also responds well to the therapy dogs that visit her nursing home. We're up in MA and, while my husband flies down to see her every week for several days at a time, I can't take the time to drive down to VA with our puppy so I'm wondering if you could help. Do you know of any BMDs in the Fairfax, VA area who do therapy work and who might be willing to pay a special visit to The Virginian? If not, is there an organization I could contact that does therapy work or is there a BMD club in that area? It would be great for her to meet a Boomer-look-alike. It might boost her spirits and I know she would thoroughly enjoy getting a berner-nudge and feeling the beautiful fur!
