I am so happy to tell you that my Sundance Damsel on the Rogue, Battenkill, known to all as Batty, turns 7 on Monday the 25th. Batty is my first Berner and what a wonderful girl she has been. In her seven years, she has patiently endured the confirmation ring, being bred, and the birth and death of her only offspring, my Lily. But there also has been our move to Montana and life in the country chasing the smells of deer, foxes and grouse...but most important, snow!!!
Batty is my soul mate, couch and bed buddy. When Lily was sick Batty never left my side..ever..always licking the tears from my eyes. I doubt there is a human being that could be so devoted. Batty greets every day with yodels and demands butt scratches as I get out of bed. She runs like the wind through the forest chasing smells and looks like a two year old. Our Berner pup, Liberty, gives her all the respect a grand dame deserves, washing her face and ears every morning. Happy 7th birthday, Batty, and to your sister Shelby in CA. Thank you Susan for trusting us with this magnificent girl and making Berners a permanent part of our lives and love. We will celebrate with lots of treats and a long walk in the woods with all of our Berner buddies and I will take lots of pictures to preserve the memory of this special occasion.
