Hi A quick update on Wilson's condition
We went to see an internist Vet a local Vet. hospital this morning in Quebec city. There is seems to be hope. He cannot dismiss the possibility of neuro problem but he thinks that he is suffering from a meningitis. Wilson is now on steroids... we hope to see him improved in the next few days. In fact, the first doze seems to have help a bit. He ask to go outdoor and played a little bit. This vet did a very good clinical exam (1 hour) and didn't jump at the conclusion after only a proprioception test like the other one. Seek multiple opinions your dog deserve better then a vet. that jumps to conclusion and start talking immediatly about inevitable short term euthanasia. You can guess that we had a terrible weekend thinking about loosing our 1 year old Wilson. He did notice a few symptoms that I have missed (low fever and stiff neck). The last weekend was nerve racking but we are starting to think that our little (80 pounds) baby will be fine.... we still hope for a complete recovery. Here's the symptoms that we have observed in Wilson in the last 3 weeks: He started with - Dragging of the front feet with wearing of the toes - Got clumsier - Slips easily on hard surface (hardwood...) - Occasionally falls with walking, walked on the top of his foot - hesitant to go up or down stairs Then -I think he got some fever one night -Seems to drink less water -lost sensation of the front feet The days before the last Vet. visited -doesn't want to eat -doesn't want to drink -vomited what he did eat -breath smell different I want to thank everyone for your help and encouragements. I will keep you up to date with Wilson's condition. I have posted a good picture of Wilson taken this summer, he was 9 months old. http://pics.tdiclub.com/members/bluezx9r/Wilson/miniWilson.jpg :-) ST ----------------------------------------------------------------- Serge Thibault
