My application is already in for the Berner girl in Canfield, Ohio. I just hope it was the first one on the list. My previous berner girl died in August at the age of 8 from complications of lupus. They are calling St. Pauli, the girl in the shelter, a berner mix, not a pure breed - just what I'm looking for. There is also a 5 month old male berner mix at the same shelter. He has no white on his face so looks less Berner but because they are both the same age I'm guessing they are littermates.
Both have gone into a prison training program, to come out crate trained, housebroken, and knowing basic obedience in 6 to 8 weeks when they will be available for adoption.. Usually the prisons only train service dogs so I'm surprised and pleased to see them taking in rescue dogs for more basic training. Anne Cervenka Grand Marais, MN
