Assuming a capsule consisting of 500 mg of Glucosamine HCL 99% and 400 mg
Sodium Condroitin Sulfate 95%, you dose as follows for a 50-100lb. dog:

INITIAL PERIOD (4-6 weeks): 3 capsules a day (2 in the AM and 1 in the PM)

MAINTENANCE: 1-2 capsules daily (1 AM or 1 AM and 1 PM).

If your dog is over 100 lbs: initial period is 4 capsules daily (2 AM; 2 PM)
and maintenance is 2 capsules daily.

My dogs are not great pill takers, so I open the capsule and sprinke it on
their AM and PM meals. I administered Cosequin DS (veterinary dispensed)
until my vet told me that since he was already making enough money out of me
with my canine and feline menagerie, I should go to the COSTCO and buy the
human formulation of Cosequin DS. It was much cheaper and is identical in
formulation.

All my dogs are on G/C -- one dog because of joint problems and the two
others prophylactically. Initially, I did not put the two younger dogs on it
because there was no research evidence indicating a benefit in prophylactic
administration. According to my vet, there has now been such a study and it
does show benefit. My two younger dogs who show no evidence of joint
problems now are on G/C. Hope this helps.
