Hi Leslie- I would be very suspicious of a partially torn cruciate ligament (ACL tear). Many dogs 'click' when they walk, and it is due to rubbing in the knee...Better have it checked out by a board certified orthopedic specialist. They would be able to tell you with the most accuracy if you are dealing with a knee injury, or something else. If the ACL is fully torn, typically the dog will hang the leg and not use it at all...and they only 'toe-touch' when standing. A partially torn ligament appears to be a normal knee, except when they ocassionally limp...or click.
Good luck! Jennie Hoffnagle Glenmoore, PA
