Hello. First I would like to begin by thanking everyone who replied to my
berners and seizures posting. I took Emma to the vet today for her blood
work,ect... and I just received a phone call saying that she has
Portosystemic Shunt. This answers a lot of questions about her urinary tract
infections she has had since I got her. I am not sure what to do. My vet
changed her diet and took her off the Phenobarbitol and Valium. She now is
on Metronidazole and Lactulose. The vet suggested surgery,but I have found
that the death rate is somewhat high after surgery. I am not sure how much
longer I have with Emma,but we are very scared that she may go soon. If
anyone has info on this please let me know.
