My dog, Santa, has the registered name of "Bracobern High & Mighty". He was the pick of the litter, and the name suited him perfectly. Although, as things turned out, he's now a very small boy (rather than the huge puppy he was) and more playful than regal - so they don't always live up to their names!
Most people assume that I named him Santa because he was a December puppy. Not a bit of it. He was born on April 12 1999, and came home with me at the end of May that year. The day I brought him home was better than Christmas, hence "Santa"! (We also have Christmas every day, which many people find highly amusing, as we're not even a Christian family!) Santa-Paws is the best present I ever had and usually even the most nervous child wants to pet him when they find out his name. One little boy was somewhat miffed though. His friends had been badgering him to "Come and see Santa". When he visited with them, he gazed in disgust as the puppy and then turned tail and went straight back to his grandma's house. She laughed herself silly when he said "I thought I was going to see Santa and he's only a stupid dog!" It wasn't long, however, before he fell under "Santa's Spell" and was soon coming round to play... Woofs and tailwags to everybody.
