Your letter touched me and I had to write Cabelas. I hope enough other Berner owners,
not yet on holiday, take the time to write them as well. Thanks for the inspiration.

Dear Ron,

Shame on you! Selling puppies? Attracting customers!!
Please understand that I am not fooled by your weak rationalization for selling
puppies in front of Cabela's: it's to increase sales and keep the kids busy so the
parents can shop! And who really pays? The thousands of dogs living in puppy mills,
ill-nourished, ill-housed, unexercised, unloved and suffering until they die of
untreated illnesses. NO ETHICAL & RESPONSIBLE BREEDER WOULD EVER SELL THIS WAY!!

Please seriously reconsider this venture. Your current behaviour will contribute money
to the pockets of the puppy millers, future suffering for more dogs of all breeds,
will eventually fill the cages of the humane shelters with pups bought on impulse and
then dumped as inconvenient burdens. You are in no way creating the opportunity for
families to carefully research and choose a healthy companion dog. NO ETHICAL &
RESPONSIBLE BREEDER WOULD EVER SELL THIS WAY!!

YOU CAN DO BETTER!!
You seminars sound useful but selling puppies on site is reprehensible. How about
continuing the seminars and just deleting the sale of puppies? No cost and a big
public relations gain!
How about asking the local ASPCA to bring a few dogs in need of adoption to the store
with educational materials and experienced screening staff?
How about local vets that would do eye, heart, microchip and tatoo clinics at a low
price for your customers that already have dogs? THAT would be a service! There are
many ways to attract customers that do not EXPLOIT puppies and fuel the puppy mills.
YOU CAN DO BETTER!!

I will no longer shop at Cabela's as a result of this practice. Let me know when you
find your ethical and moral center as well as a more contructive way to raise your
bottom line.

Sincerely,
Linda Seaver
