I have never had an issue Potty training a puppy .. but a friend has a new Boston Terrier puppy, he is about 12 weeks old and potty training is not going as well as hoped.
He doesn't seem to get the idea yet.. .. She catches him in the act and does the AAGGHH and it doesn't phase him .. he just directs his gaze to her and continues to pee until she picks him up and takes him outside. Now she doesn't expect him to be totally potty trained .. just expecting him to start to get the fact that he should STOP what he is doing. Now she has only had him two weeks, the breeder had not started potty training .. so he hadn't been patterned on something else .. so we are just looking for ideas on how to get his attention enough to STOP the stream so that he can eventually get it .. oh .. she doesn't want me to pee here .. she wants me to pee outside.. Now, she had initially started using NO for everything he wasn't suppose to be doing .. and I finally got her to understand .. that he has NO idea what NO means .. so she couldn't expect him to respond to NO ... I explained the whole positive training thing and at this age it's best to re-direct to the good thing then to 'correct' the bad .. once he knows what is good to do that should prevail .. one hopes <vbg>. So any ideas!!! Teresa, Patriot and Romeo
