Does this help? http://www.port3101.org/featured-blackberry-kb-articles/665-kb13393-blackberry-mds-connection-service-still-appears-blackberry-manager.html
From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Starling, Chad Sent: Tuesday, April 28, 2009 4:35 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [Bes-admins] Removing an Old MDS Instance I have 8 BES servers which are pretty heavily utilized by application users and others that view attachments frequently. The current plan is to split off Attachment and MDS Connection services to their own hardware. For redundancy, I'll have 2 Attachment servers and 2 MDS Connection servers. 4 BES servers will point to 1 Attachment and 1 MDS server and the other 4 BES will attach to the remaining Attachment and MDS server. This all works really well (tested successfully in our test and pilot environments, anyway), but it leaves a mess in the BlackBerry Manager with all of the old MDS Connection instances still listed in addition to the 2 new ones that all MDS traffic will route through. Any idea how to get rid of them? I've tried deleting them from BB Mgr, but since the service is still installed on the BES servers, it won't let me. I found a KB article on RIM's site that looks promising, but it seems to indicate that it's for cleaning up after removing a BES from the BB domain...in my case, I'm only changing where the BES servers point for their MDS Connection Service. Have any of you gone through splitting out MDS Connections service to another server and, if so, did you bother with cleaning up the old MDS Connection entries in BB Mgr or was it easier to just leave them and deal with it?
