It's been this way on every Blackberry ever released and the new products
launching this year are no different. Yes, it's frustrating, but it's nothing
new to old-skool Blackberry users.

Subject: [Bes-admins] Bold App Memory (Rant)

I’ve done a lot of research on this, and it seems frustrating to say the least.
Every Bold owner I see is frustrated with this also. I believe this to be
horrible marketing on RIMs part also. Conning us into thinking the 1gb of
onboard memory will allow us to install gobs and hoards of BB appworld apps.
Not so my friends. The application memory is hard coded to only allow access to
128mb ? Why? We get screwed even further with the OS taking 65mb of that.
Leaves us with a paltry 63mb of space to load applications. Still not so! Every
program whether it’s running or not takes up application memory. The OS needs
~14mb to run smoothly. Still with me doing the math? Down to 49mb of space. Yet
again fooled! Messages both SMS / MMS and e-mail databases are stored on
application memory (in my case adds up to ~5mb). Down to 44mb. 44 MB! Out of an
advertised 1gb of space. Wow I got the wool pulled over my eyes when I
purchased this thing. 839mb of free space onboard, 0mb free application space =
1 frustrated Bold user.

End rant :)
