Using perfmon, see if you have a high average disk queue and if your system is paging. With 1.8GB page and only 2GB physical memory, you may be paging a lot.

I am running my BES in an Exchange 2003 environment, and the BES is running on VMware with a remote SQL database. Right now we only have 2GB RAM and a single Xeon 3.4GHZ processor allocated. I did see the CPU spiking at 100% quite a bit last week and it is using a 1.8GB page file. Attached is a screenshot of the performance monitor right now. Any advice on sizing would be greatly appreciated.
