How does the licensing work? Do you still have to pay for cals?

My thought was to actually maintain BES Express for personal BlackBerrys and
BES for the state-owned but it looks like that isn't supported. The other
thought was to even migrate from BES to BES Express, but I was pretty sure that
there would be certain features unavailable to differentiate the two products.

Thanks for that, I hadn't noticed any other differences than you listed below.
Items 1 and 3 aren't an issue for us here, unfortunately we already have a BES
server so it doesn't look like we'll be able to use BES Express. I had wanted
to keep the BES Server for our exec staff, etc and use BES Express for all the
people who brought in their personal Blackberry's. Doesn't look like that's
going to happen.

Speaking of BES Express, I pulled it down and took a quick read of the
documentation and as far as I can tell, these are the main differences:

* Smaller number of IT Policy settings. To be honest, the settings we
use for password complexity and content protection are there, so I didn't
notice what was missing/unavailable.

* No MDS support? As far as I can tell, there is no MDS support which
also includes accessing intranet via BlackBerry Browser. I also didn't see a
way to disable the Internet Browser, thus forcing all web browsing through the
corporate proxy/firewall (which we enforce), making BES Express a no-go for us.

* No Instant Messaging support? Also as far as I can tell, there is no
enterprise instant messaging integration. This is also a no-go for us as we
integrate into our LCS environment.

Did anyone else notice the same things or anything different?
