I had a ticket open with TSupport, they couldn't figure it out either. we gave
up on it.

Sounds like you created a new software config each time.

The procedure I outlined works and works quite well. It is the recommended
approach for application management by anyone that does for more than a handful
of devices.

For what it's worth, I had significant problems with whitelisting in 4.1.
Everytime I added a new application to the whitelist it remove applications
from people's devices and required each user to reinstall their software.

In 5.0 it would be an unknown app policy.

In 4.1.x unknown app policy doesn't exist, but you simply define the first line
in a software config as having an app control policy set to disallow and then
set each app you want in the software config to either optional or required and
it'll be allowed nthe device.

So this is different than a regular 3rd party app policy? Okay thanks. We never
pushed down 3rd party apps to devices. Now one more question? Do all the users
need to be on BES 5.0 in order to be able to do this?

No, but you can create an application control policy to disallow all apps and
add in the app you want as an exclusion.

Does anyone know if you have an IT policy in place to prevent users from
installing 3rd party apps, can you have an exception put in place for one
specific app?

We do not allow 3rd party apps, but there is one product we don't to allow for
a select group of users.

Thanks everyone!
