In BES 4.1 I turn compression on for the log folder. The logs are just .txt files so they compress very well. Every few months I'll delete old logs and run disk cleanup. Both could be scripted but I've never found it needed.
Our logs aren't that big, I think 200mb uncompressed for ~350 heavy e-mail users.
