Perhaps the backup of the db itself is causing the issue? What are you using
for backups and how are you backing up the db?

The strange thing is, when I get notified that my bes lost connection to the
database, its rarely during the day. Its always at night, when backups are
running. Would a bes database be doing much at 2am? All users are in the
Eastern timezone, we're not international.

It is possibly - the bes database can be i/o intense - I have about 150 users -
sql 2000- and I've noticed that during high peaks during the day the cpu and
memory can clock a higher usage and it is all About the bes database. Haven't
moved a ha database but I assume it is similar to a regular database -

Subject: [Bes-admins] Moving BES database to new SQL server

Our SQL admin thinks my BES database is overloading our SQL server, apparently
at least in terms of I/O. To take the strain off, he wants to move the besmgmt
database to a different server. What is the best way to do this? I have two BES
servers (5.0.3) in HA. The SQL box is SQL 2005, I believe SP3 but not certain.
I have approximately 200 Blackberry users. Personally, I didn't think the BES
database was that intense for a SQL server but my server keeps losing
connection to the database. At least once when it did this, things that used
other SQL databases on that box stopped working until I rebooted it. RDP didn't
work until I rebooted it a second time.
