Hi Chris,

There is not a simple answer to your question. I have multiple BES
servers running against a single Exchange server in one environment. I
also have a single BES server running against multiple Exchange servers
in another (separate countries even!). If you do setup a local BES
server, you will need to move the existing users to the new BES server,
of course.

Server requirements depend on how many users you have. I have VMs with 1
CPU and 1 GB of RAM working just fine for the 15 users on the system. I
have another VM with 2 CPUs and 4 GB of RAM for a different amount of
users. How fast are your links between the sites? Do you need anything
special like HA?

In short, the more details you are willing to provide, the more help we
can provide!

Subject: [Bes-admins] International BES achitecture

Does anyone have any tips for implementing a second BES server in
another Country?

Currently we have Blackberry Users in US, UK, Australia and South
Africa. User's Exchange mailbox server is in their local datacenter, but
our only BES is in the US. As you can imagine, this creates frequent
sync issues between the BES and remote mailbox servers. And
International activations can be finicky.

All offices use the same email domain, with MX records pointing to US
Exchange edge servers. I am also interested in what the minimum local
Exchange 2007 roles (same Exchange Org, Windows and email domain) would
be to support a local BES server.

Thanks!
