Hi Zafar,
While my previous draft extends ICMPv6 messages for SRv6 EVPN failure detection
purpose, I guess the reason why the authors leveraging MPLS lspping for SRv6
may be that it can be implemented more easily if the routers already support
MPLS lspping. Just a guess ...

Hi Yao
I provided similar comment during the Bess session at IETF124.
IMO the SRv6 OAM solution should build of the ICMPv6 tool kit.
Thanks

Subject: [bess] Comments on draft-zl-bess-evpn-srv6-oam
Hi Authors,
From my reading of draft-zl-bess-evpn-srv6-oam, the purpose is similar to a
previous draft draft-liu-bess-srv6-evpn-validation, which has been presented in
IETF120. I think the requirement to detect dataplane failure for EVPN over SRv6
is true, but the detection mechanism needs more discussion, whether to make use
of the existing lspping messages or to define new types of messages.
Welcome to read draft-liu-bess-srv6-evpn-validation and we can discuss more
about this topic.
Thanks,
Yao
