Dear Rik,

reading through posts on the wsa group, I noticed you recommended
Amibroker. How does it compare with BestCharts? I guess I should
tell you what I'm looking for -- software that will scan the US
markets and select 5 to 10 stocks that are poised to go up in the
next two weeks or so . An indication of support and resistance, back
testing, and historical pattern significance would be nice too. I'd
be thrilled if I didn't have to pay a subscription for data, have
customizeable charts easy to navigate, and a link to my brokerage (a
click on the symbol brings up a trade window) If the program could
figure out a stop and target price and fill in the order to my spec--
 that would be wonderful.

I got a brochure for go gecko which sounded like it would do much of
that -- but I can't afford (and my wife wouldn't let me if I could)
to spend $8000 on a computer program for investing in the stock
market. I suppose you get what you pay for, but I'm guessing there
are programs out there that would do a reasonable job for much less.

Suggestions?

Joel
