Each indicator has its own parameters. With each indicator a buy or sell signal is generated when certain parameters meet certain conditions. For example, when one moving average crosses another the MA indicator will give a signal. Enough move in price or volume must occur to cause the indicator to generate its signal.
Also remember that Yahoo data is delayed 20 minutes during the day, so you will always lag behind real time action. Earlier versions of Best Charts could use the ECN data from Yahoo and give you a more real time intraday indicator. This feature is not in more recent versions. It is hoped the developer will restore this feature in a future version. In order to catch the sort of action you describe during the day I use Amibroker charting, fed by Quotetracker which downloads real time data from my broker Scottrade.
