This is an incompatible change required by UTF8. Strings that can be
interpreted as character encodings are now in UTF8 and 255{a. is an illegal
character in a UTF8 string.
For this reason in 601 the delimeters for wd arguments are now " and 127{a.
and 255{a. is no longer treated as a delimiter.
Change your code to use 127{a. and I think you will get what you want.
I believe this was discussed in the earliest beta messages, but I was
disappointed to find it is not yet covered in the release highlights notes
or in the wd documents. This will be corrected in some future beta release.
