The J linux installation is quite simple. Right now we don't have the simplest set of steps documented cleanly in the appropriate places and you need to go back to the first 601 beta announcement messages. The installation is the same as it has been for the last several releases except for the step to mv the libj601.so to /usr/lib and the complication that this normally requires 'super user' privileges..

I'll get a statement of the steps out to this forum later today and will see that they are clearly stated for future betas and releases.

I'm ignorant in technical detail of Linux. I don't know how to do export in Linux shell, also it seems different shell do export in different way. For dummies like me, it would be best if it can be done by just double click the installation program.
