I can reproduce the crash here. The sequence of events is call
j -jprofile "file doesnt exist.ijs" ; see the "Error and no IDE for
debugging" dialog; dimiss it; J crashes. That is, afer the dialog is
dimissed, one gets the Microsoft "J has encountered a problem and needs to
close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." dialog.
The error occurs only in j.exe , not jconsole.exe. The error appears in
betas M and L but not in K or J or in version 5.04b. In those previous
versions, when you dimiss the dialog box, J will exit. However, neither
behavior allows one to continue using J. Perhaps j.exe -jprofile "file
doesn't exist.ijs" should be treated like j.exe -jprofile . That is,
an empty, profile-less J IDE window (but with 'file name error' printed)?
I am using Windows XP Professional, Version 2002, Service Pack 2.
