I'm afraid the answer is that J601 (and later) require Windows CE 4.20 and we won't be doing the considerable work to get it to work on earlier versions of wince.

Subject: RE: [Jbeta] pocketpc beta available

I have a Jornada pocket PC running PocketPC Windows v3.0

I don't think it's possible to upgrade the OS to v4.2 so I won't
be able to run 6.01 on my Jornada.

Is J version 6 *ever* likely to support PocketPC Windows v3.0?

Thanks in advance

The 601 o beta is available for the pockepc.

http://www.jsoftware.com/download/j601obeta_pocketpc.zip

This release requires PocketPC Windows CE version 4.20 or later (often referred to as PocketPC 2003).

Download the file, unzip to a temp directory, and read readme.htm.

If you install J help on a storage card this beta won't automatically find it and you will have to edit profile to have the correct path. Edit|Configure Scripts|profile.ijs will open the script in an ijs window. Edit the line that defines hlp to use the correct path, save the script, and restart J. For example, if your storage card is called 'SD Card' then edit the line as follows:

hlp=.'\SD Card\j601\system\extras\help'

If your device is a high resolution vga device J will automatically use the vga screen. You can use normal pocketpc steps to run J in landscape mode and for many uses that may be the preferred mode.
