FWIW & IIRC, this is the German Site that comes up
when Googling for the string saved in the clipboard.
Beware line-wrap...

It's the first result of, quoting today's Google
'Results *1* - *10* of about *550* for *"Visual <http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=X&oi=dict&q=http://www.answers.com/visual%26r%3D67&usg=AFQjCNHTQwzZI8MJof3Yt-LiE1kBN-D9rw> C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package <http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=X&oi=dict&q=http://www.answers.com/package%26r%3D67&usg=AFQjCNEtCcln-NF5o49Mrr-v0rzlPMlpbg> (x86)"*.'

Agaain, IIRC, the J installer disappeared after installing vcredist
and needed to be started anew.

So David's not the only one.

What is 'MS Self Extractor' about. Is this what you (or perhaps the German site) called the vcredist download?

Did you follow the install instruction as to what to search for at www.microsoft.com? Could you try to search again and verify that it really sends you to a German site for the download.

Subject: [Jbeta] Welcome Screen

Found the Windows XP install very clean (once I downloaded the MS Self
Extractor that appeared to be on a German site).

The "Welcome to J602" window is a bit quirky .. Text line under "All users should check ....." Appears to be buried and out of the frame ... just the tops of letters are showing. The next frame is OK. My screen resolution is
1680 x 1050 .. does that make for problems?

Also something odd just occurred ... with the "Welcome" window open
'Outlook' keeps freezing .. tried several times. I cannot image the
connection!

Help file for movement keys (OpenGL) is not found.

David
